What is the certificate of conduct?
A certificate of conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, VOG) is a document by which the Dutch Minister of Legal Protection declares that the applicant has not been convicted for any crime relevant to the performance of his or her duties.
Who does the screening?
The screening for your Certificate of Good Conduct will be assessed by the official screening authority of the Justis Service, an official part of the Ministry of Security and Justice.
The Justis screening authority is the only body that can do this and is working on a safer and fairer society by screening people and organizations.

What is a screening profile?
If it appears that someone has come into contact with the Ministry of Justice in the past, the Justis Service will make an assessment based on the selected screening profiles. It is possible that this may form an obstacle to the issue of a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
To make it easier to select a screening profile, the Justis Service has also developed general screening profiles.

How long does it take to apply for a VOG?
If it turns out that you have not committed any criminal offenses, you will often receive your Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) sent to your home by post within fourteen days. Have you been in contact with the law? Then further research is needed. It may take six to eight weeks for the decision to be made.
How do I receive my VOG statement?
Your employer will not receive the Certificate of Good Conduct. Your VOG will be sent to you personally. The Justis Department will send your VOG to the postal address known at the town hall. It is therefore not possible to receive a Certificate of Good Conduct digitally.
Is hetvogbureau.nl part of the government?
No, we do not act for or on behalf of the government. We prepare the application for you at Dienst Justis; the official body for processing VOG applications.
When does my right of withdrawal expire?
As soon as we have processed your request and prepare it at the Justis Service, your right of withdrawal will expire. After all, we have provided our services as an intermediary.
VOG Applications with a criminal record?
Have you committed a criminal offense in the past or have you been in contact with the Justice Department? Then Dient Justis uses a review period.
– Review period for young people under 23 years old

Are you over 23 years old? Then a review period of four years is applied.

The costs for applying for a VOG via our website are in total € 74.20.
These are processed in two installments, you pay the processing costs of € 40.35 with your application. We will prepare your application for you within one working day at Dienst Justis. You then confirm your application via DigiD and pay the remaining costs of € 33.85 to the Justis Service. Your request has then been fully processed and sent.
Can I still cancel my application?
You can no longer cancel your application once your application has been processed by us in the register of the Justis Service. We have initiated the application process and have thus provided our services. Do you want to change the application? Then contact us.
